The Accura MicroTol is a CNC (computer numerical control) machine tool that is configurable for many precision optics applications, including grinding and diamond turning of spheres and aspheres.

The CNC motion system is designed for smooth, rigid and controlled motion. Each slide carriage is supported by hydrostatic bearings. Linear motors drive the X and Z axes, providing highly dynamic feed force that remains consistent throughout the life of the machine. Slide position is monitored by linear glass scales. Programming resolution is 1 nm.

The MicroTol’s base has excellent vibration damping and thermal stability characteristics. The work area is enclosed by a fabricated stainless steel enclosure which provides operator safety and coolant containment, while maintaining easy access.

Accura, a Fanuc Robotics integrator, specializes in turnkey solutions for precision manufacturing operations. The MicroTol can be outfitted for manual load or it can be fully automated with programmable arm and conveyors. Efficient automation systems coupled with the MicroTol’s robust platform will consistently deliver high throughput and maximum up time.

MicroTol work-holding options include vacuum, hydraulic sleeve, diaphragm, collet, face clamping and sliding jaw chucks. Wheel heads available include air bearing, hydrostatic bearing and ball bearing spindles. Turning options include engineered tool posts for standard diamond tools.
