The Accura 1210G is a vertical axis CNC (computer numerical control) grinder for precision optics applications up to 12-in. diameter. The motions of the X and Z axes can be combined with C-axis work rotation to produce non-rotationally symmetrical surfaces. The 1210G’s modular design makes it ideal for all types of grinding including ID, OD and face; or tapered, convex or concave shapes.
The 1210G features a natural granite base which has excellent vibration damping, rigidity and dimensional stability characteristics. The X- and Z-axis slide system is mounted directly to the granite base. Each slide carriage is driven by linear motors and supported by high load capacity linear guide bearings. Slide position is monitored by linear glass scales. Programming resolution is 0.1 µm. All linear motion components are double protected from coolant. The machine guard is rated for wheel speeds up to 12,000 SFPM (surface feet per minute). The 1210G is available with hydrostatic bearing or ball bearing work spindle and can be fully automated with programmable arm and conveyors. Wheel spindle options include air bearing, hydrostatic bearing or ball bearing, and are available in speeds from 1000 to 90,000 RPM.
