A diffraction pattern sampling unit composed of a 32-element monolithic silicon photodiode array and a readout unit. The intensity on each detector element can be separately read out by means of a control switch.
The wedge pattern of 32 pie shaped wedges over 180 degrees and the semi-annular 32 rings is used as the
robot eye in automatic recognition systems for testing sharpness of hypodermic needles and also for
image quality evaluation.
