L-3 WESCAM to Supply Army Minefield Detection System
NEW YORK, July 22 -- L-3 Communications's wholly owned subsidiary, L-3 Communications WESCAM (L-3 WESCAM), has received a contract from Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems Sector, based in Melbourne, Fla., to supply M11 digital video electro-optic/infrared countermine step-stare sensor systems for the US Army's airborne standoff minefield detection system. The total contract is valued at $8.4 million, of which $1.6 million is funded, with the balance expected to be funded over a four-year period.
L-3 WESCAM said the multispectral step-stare gyrostablized system will enable the Army to methodically capture extremely high-resolution digital stills at high speed and combine them into a large, high-resolution composite image.
