Oplink Acquires EZconn
TAIPEI, Nov. 9 -- Oplink Communications Inc., of San Jose, Calif., has acquired Taiwanese opto-communications device supplier EZconn Corp. as part of its plan to pursue the Japanese fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) market, according to a published report.
EZconn is the largest non-Japanese contract supplier of Japan's FTTH service. Oplink acquired it for about $30 million, with $9 million paid in cash and the remaining portion in Oplink stocks.
According to the China Economic News Service, Oplink said the acquisition will help it expand its product range.
