Micron Acquires Avago Technologies
CMOS image sensor supplier Micron Technology Inc. of Boise, Idaho, has acquired the image sensor business of Avago Technologies, which has headquarters in Singapore and San Jose, Calif. Through the purchase, Micron will gain select imaging products, an experienced imaging team and intellectual property related to Avago’s image sensor business. Micron sensors are used in camera phones and are advancing into other imaging market segments, such as automotive, security, consumer electronics and medical applications. The transaction of approximately $53 million includes contingent allotments payable to Avago if certain goals are met.
