Hexagon Buys CogniTens
Hexagon AB of Stockholm, Sweden, and North Kingstown, R.I., a provider of metrology hardware, software and accessories, has entered into an agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of the Israeli-based CogniTens Ltd., a three-dimensional noncontact measurement technologies company whose 2007 sales are estimated to be approximately $8 million. It will be integrated into Hexagon Metrology Inc. and will continue to develop and introduce new products, to support installations and to provide services to its global customers. The acquisition will give Hexagon access to all segments of the noncontact sheet metal market, combining CogniTens’ 3-D measurement products with Leica Geosystems’ laser tracker technologies and Romer’s articulated arms technologies.
