Court Grants ESI Patent Motion
PORTLAND, Ore., March 18 -- Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. reports that the US District Court for the Northern District of California has granted ESI's motion for partial summary judgment against General Scanning. ESI brought suit alleging that upgrade kits sold by General Scanning for 1.3-micron laser memory repair infringe ESI patents.
Last fall the Court granted ESI's motion for summary judgment of literal infringement by General Scanning. ESI initiated the litigation in 1996. The lawsuit is currently scheduled to go to trial on March 29, 1999.
