Infinera Expands with Russian Headquarters
Digital optical communications systems provider Infinera announced the establishment of its Russian headquarters in Moscow to focus on marketing, sales operations and working with local partners to expand its manufacturing presence and capabilities in the region.
The company said that its new entity was created to support telecom carriers and service providers in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
A Russian wholesale telecom carrier and Infinera customer, RETN recently upgraded its pan-European optical network with the latest generation of the Infinera Line System (ILS). Its network is one of the largest in Russia, extending from Moscow to London, directly connecting more than 800 international and domestic carriers.
Along with PIC-based line modules, the expanded capabilities of the ILS include hybrid EDFA/Raman amplification that in the future will allow RETN to scale to 8.0 Tb/s per fiber, and to deploy 40 and 100 G wavelength &8212; all without the need for additional upgrade of optical fibers and amplifiers.
