Fused fiber optics components maker !%Incom Inc.%! of Charlton, Mass., has announced its expansion into the polymer fiber optics market with the acquisition of !%11413%%Paradigm Optics%!, a maker of polymer fiber optic devices. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed. The Vancouver, Wash.-based company will be folded into the operations of Incom, which manufactures fiber optics for scientific, medical, defense and life sciences applications. Paradigm’s President and CEO David Welker will remain as director, working under Incom President and CEO Michael Detarando. Paradigm’s technology is expected to allow Incom to further serve the homeland security market with biometric identity solutions in ultrasonic fingerprinting.
