eMagin Wins $2.4M OLED Microdisplay Contract
eMagin Corp. has received a $2.4 million US Navy contract for the research and development of a high-brightness 2000 x 2000-pixel organic LED (OLED) microdisplay.
The $1.1 million Phase I of the project has begun and will run through September 2012, when the $1.3 million Phase II option period begins; the second phase will run an additional 12 months. The proposed work for this program will leverage the accomplishments of prior Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate OLED programs and further improve OLED performance.
The microdisplay could be used in environments that require very high brightness displays, such as aircraft cockpits.
eMagin manufactures OLED microdisplays and virtual imaging technologies for military, industrial, medical and consumer OEMs.
