OptiGrate Moves to New Facility

Increased demand for its volume Bragg gratings has led optical components maker OptiGrate to move to a new facility with 70 percent more space.

The 10,000-sq-ft facility is the only vertically integrated volume Bragg grating (VBG) production plant in the world, the company said recently. It includes units for photothermorefractive glass and holographic VBG production as well as a VBG laser application development lab.

OptiGrate Corp., a University of Central Florida Business Incubation program graduate, has relocated to a new 10,000-sq-ft facility to accommodate the increased demand for its volume Bragg grating products. Courtesy of OptiGrate Corp.

“The move is a significant achievement for OptiGrate and its team and gives us a great foundation for further growth,” said CEO Dr. Alexei Glebov. He added that the facility is operational and is shipping products.

The new offices are in Oviedo, near Orlando, in an industrial park near the University of Central Florida (UCF).

OptiGrate is a graduate of the UCF Business Incubation program and maintains exclusive licenses and joint research agreements with the university. It was founded in 1999 by Dr. Leon Glebov of the UCF Center for Research in Electro-optics & Lasers (CREOL) and three members of his group.
