Flir Awarded $81M Army Contract
Flir Systems Inc. has received a two-year, $81 million blanket purchase agreement from the US Army to support the Medevac program.
The contract includes purchase of the Talon, a 9-in. multisensor gimbal system that will be installed on the Army’s new Medevac Blackhawk helicopters.
Flir’s imaging systems “enhance the efficient and safe location and transport of injured personnel and medics in the field,” said President and CEO Earl Lewis. An initial delivery order of $19 million was received.
Work under the contract will be performed at Flir’s Billerica, Mass., facility; shipments under the initial delivery order are expected to be completed by 2014.
