Panasonic Welding Robots to Use TeraDiode Lasers
TeraDiode will supply Panasonic Welding Systems of Osaka, Japan with 4-kW high-brightness laser engines under a new, multiyear agreement between the two companies.
TeraDiode’s TeraBlade engine will be integrated into Panasonic’s Lapriss robotic welding and cutting systems.
Direct-diode lasers are more affordable, reliable and efficient than fiber and disk lasers commonly used in industry, according to TeraDiode. The company’s scalable wavelength-beam combination technology is used to deliver a beam through a 100-µm output fiber with a wall plug efficiency of 40 percent.
