Association members also elected two new directors: Kai-Udo Modrich, managing director of Carl Zeiss Automated Inspection GmbH & Co. KG, and professor Bernd Jähne, who heads the Heidelberg Collaboratory for Image Processing at Heidelberg University.

The association confirmed existing board members Gabriele Jansen of Vision Ventures GmbH & Co. KG in Germany; Michel Ollivier of Tiama (MSC & SGCC SAS) in France; Jean Caron of Euresys SA in Belgium; and Ventura-Traveset.

Ollivier is the new EMVA vice president, and Caron takes over as treasurer.

Dirk Käseberg of Mettler-Toledo Garvens GmbH in Germany has resigned from the board to concentrate on increased responsibilities in his company but will continue to work with EMVA in a less formal manner.

Founded in Barcelona in 2003, EMVA has about 100 members representing more than 20 nations. Its aim is to promote the development and use of machine vision technology and to support the interests of its members: machine vision companies, research institutions and national machine vision associations.

The association's main fields of work are standardization, statistics, the annual EMVA Business Conference and other networking events, European research funding, public relations, and marketing.
