Corning Ramps Up NY Operations to Address Semiconductor Demand

Corning Inc. will expand operations through two locations in Monroe County, N.Y. The expansion project includes the establishment of a Laser Optics production facility and a Development and Engineering Center of Excellence. Corning will also expand its Advanced Optics Center, in Fairport, N.Y.

The $139 million expansion project will create over 250 jobs at a manufacturing facility in Fairport, N.Y., which is expected to be completed in 2024. The Laser Optics facility will be located in Gates, N.Y., and is targeted for completion next year.

Gov. Kathy Hochul and U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer announced with Corning Inc. on July 8 that the company will develop multiple facilities aimed at meeting demand in the semiconductor market in Monroe County, N.Y. Courtesy of Gov. Kathy Hochul.
Empire State Development is providing up to $5 million in investment for the project. The expansion aims to address growing demand in the semiconductor market.
