Photonis Adds Remote Detection Capability with Telops Acquisition
Sensor and imaging technology developer Photonis has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Telops, a developer and manufacturer of hyperspectral imaging systems and infrared cameras. The transaction is expected to be finalized in the coming weeks. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Telops is headquartered in Quebec City and has offices in Paris and the U.S. The company markets its cameras to scientific and research laboratories, for applications in experimental mechanics, combustion studies, and the remote sensing of gases, among others. Telops employs over 100 people, including over 40 R&D experts.
According to Photonis CEO Jérôme Cerisier, the acquisition adds hyperspectral capabilities to Photonis’ portfolio and will enable the company to enter the North American methane detection market.
The move follows Photonis’ December 2022 agreement to
acquire Xenics, a developer and manufacturer of infrared solutions including SWIR imagers.
