Mitsubishi Electric, HACARUS Expand AI Visual-Inspection Capability
Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and HACARUS Corporation will expand their existing collaboration for the development of AI-based visual-inspection applications for manufacturing. According to HACARUS, the collaborators will further develop Mitsubishi's MELSOFT VIXIO visual inspection software using HACARUS' AI technology.
The software, which Mitsubishi Electric released last year, is designed to enable implementation of AI without the need for specialized knowledge.
HACARUS is the developer of HACARUS Check visual inspection solution powered by the company's proprietary sparse modeling AI technology, which reduces the amount of data needed for training AI systems. HACARUS also specializes in integrating AI with various factory automation devices.
Per the expanded partnership, HACARUS will gain access to Mitsubishi Electric’s extensive sales infrastructure in Japan and overseas. In addition, Mitsubishi Electric will take an equity stake in HACARUS as it plans to accelerate its development and provision of integrated and automated AI-based visual-inspection solutions.
