Invitrogen Corp.
Invitrogen Corp. of Carlsbad, Calif.,
and Cellartis AB of Gothenburg, Sweden, will collaborate to create human embryonic
stem cell reporter lines. This will allow tracking of cell lineage and the study
of multiple genes, without killing the cells. Some possible areas for advancement
are isolation, characterization, expansion and differentiation.
In other news, Invitrogen has entered
into a licensing agreement for several patents held by Affymetrix Inc. of Santa
Clara, Calif., to manufacture and sell spotted nucleic acid microarrays. Financial
details of the license were not disclosed.
