Advanced Photonix Inc. (API) of Ann Arbor, Mich., has separated its CEO and board chairman positions to strengthen its global expansion. The change will allow the management team to devote its attention to meeting customer needs, said Donald C. Pastor, API’s new nonexecutive board chairman. He will monitor implementation of business strategies, development of enhanced reporting mechanisms and communication between the board and company executives. Richard Kurtz, API ’s CEO since 2003 and president since 2006, will continue to oversee the optoelectronics company’s day-to-day operations. The company’s offerings have applications in the medical sector.
