Flir Systems Inc.
Sensor systems manufacturer Flir Systems Inc. will produce domestic response capability (DRC) kits under a three-year US Army contract valued at up to $88.3 million. Flir will develop the kits, an integrated suite of advanced sensors and support equipment for detecting and decontaminating chemical warfare agents and threats, for use by National Guard Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support teams. The Army has placed an initial $26.9 million order, which is expected to be completed by December 2013. Flir also has agreed to acquire video surveillance systems provider Lorex Technology Inc. in a cash deal worth about $60 million. The acquisition is expected to close this year. The company’s systems are used in drug interdiction, environmental monitoring and biological detection.
