Sheaumann Laser Receives Manufacturing Grant

Sheaumann Laser was recently awarded a $2.35 million grant from the Massachusetts Manufacturing Innovation Initiative (M2I2) to grow its production capacity.

Sheaumann Laser specializes in the design and manufacture of semiconductor lasers and modules for industrial, defense, medical, and printing applications. The grant will play a key role in growing the company’s laser wavelength capability from 780 to 1080 nm and producing lasers with wavelengths up to 1875 nm. This award will nearly double its production capability and create new Marlborough-based jobs.

Under the Manufacturing USA program, Massachusetts is part of a national effort to develop manufacturing infrastructure through regional robotics, integrated photonics, flexible hybrid electronics, and biopharma endeavors. M2I2 awards support critical R&D infrastructure in these sectors, working closely with the national manufacturing institutes of AIM Photonics, Next Flex, Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing, and Advanced Functional Fabrics of America.
