New Infrared Technologies awarded EU prize

New Infrared Technologies (NIT), a Spanish company specializing in IR sensor manufacturing technology, was awarded the Innovation Radar Prize 2018 in the Industrial & Enabling Tech category by the European Commission’s Innovation Radar initiative.

CEO Arturo Baldasano received the prize from Mariya Gabriel, European commissioner for digital economy and society, and Robert Hofer, Austrian minister for transport, innovation, and technology.

NIT has brought to the market two innovative solutions for quality assurance and process control of laser-based processes. The first, CLAMIR (Control for Laser Additive Manufacturing with Infrared), is based on the requirements of Industry 4.0 toward a zero-defect goal. The second, the Horizon 2020 Project MAShES, provides high-speed monitoring and real-time control of the manufacturing process.

The Innovation Radar Prize was created to identify high-potential innovations and innovators in EU-funded research and projects. Forty-eight innovators were selected to compete for the prize in five categories. The public voted to select the 20 finalists, and a panel of judges decided the winners.
