VISION to Highlight Innovations in Deep Learning and Embedded Vision

VISION 2022 is set to take place Oct. 4-6 in Stuttgart, Germany, where the industry’s leading companies will unveil the latest innovations in the vision systems and components contributing to advancements in automation and Industry 4.0.

Attendees can expect presentations on trending topics such as 3D imaging, deep learning, and embedded vision, said Florian Niethammer, head of trade fairs and events at Messe Stuttgart, which hosts the event. New markets for vision beyond classical factory automation will also be in focus, including food and beverage, traffic infrastructure, and pharmaceutical.

This year’s event also features the VISION Start-up World competition, as well as the Start-up Pitch sessions, both of which are designed to provide opportunities, resources, and competitive experience for new and emerging companies. VISION Start-up World expands from 15 participants at last year’s fair to about 20 newcomers, who will present their technologies to a panel of expert judges. The Industrial VISION Days Forum — the largest presentation forum for imaging and machine vision technology in the world, according to the organizers — also returns, featuring 70 presentation slots over the three event days. Visitors can attend panel discussions featuring the foremost experts in the field, as well as the VISION Award ceremony where short-listed companies — yet to be announced — will present their innovations to an expert jury.

Increased attendance projected

VISION Show organizers expect a 25% increase in the number of exhibitors, with about 20% participating in the show for the first time, Niethammer said. The organizers expect increased attendance from companies from Asia and North America that were unable to attend last year due to travel restrictions and other cautionary measures. More than 5400 trade visitors attended last year’s event.

The international trade fair Motek, which focuses on handling and automation technology, will again take place in tandem with VISION.

“We saw a lot of synergies for both exhibitors and attendees at the past event and of course would like to continue in this direction,” Niethammer said.

For those unable to attend VISION 2022 in person, the entire forum program will be streamed live.
