A3 Returns to Boston for The Vision Show

The Vision Show will return to the Hynes Convention Center in Boston Oct. 11-13. For the first time, the show will be co-located with the Autonomous Mobile Robots & Logistics Conference, which begins Oct. 10, with the aim of establishing networking opportunities for attendees and exhibitors of the two shows, according to A3, the shows’ organizers.

Organizers of The Vision Show said they expect to host more than 140 exhibitors, including top industry names such as Basler, SICK, JAI, XIMEA, and AT - Automation Technology GmbH.

Additionally, the show will feature more than 100 combined conference sessions across multiple tracks, including Applications and Technologies, Artificial Intelligence & IIoT, and Vision and Robotics.

Two keynotes, one by Kevin Blankespoor of Boston Dynamics and the other by Jumbi Edulbehram of NVIDIA, will be presented at 9 a.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Blankespoor’s presentation, titled “Mobility, Perception & Manipulation: The Building Blocks of Mobile Robots,” will discuss the fundamentals of autonomous mobile robots, how they have improved, and how they can be applied for material handling in future warehouses.

Edulbehram’s presentation is titled “From the Pitching Mound to the Traffic Light: Machine Vision and AI Beyond the Factory.” The presentation will discuss the ubiquity of machine vision and artificial intelligence and the ways in which they are expected to change the world as we know it.

Other presentations will include an update on vision standards by Bob McCurrach, director of vision standards development at A3, and an executive roundtable discussion on the state of the machine vision industry. The roundtable will feature Greg Hollows, vice president of product strategy at Edmund Optics; Carl Doeksen, global robotics/automation director in the Abrasive Systems Division at 3M; and Eric Danziger, co-founder and CEO of Invisible AI.

The show will also feature the International Vision Standards booth, which will present hardware demonstrations of global vision standards and offer attendees the opportunity to speak with experts about how the standards improve systems.

The returning Certified Vision Professional Basic Program has been updated for 2022 and will offer onsite courses to attendees. Courses focus on the fundamentals of machine vision, optics and lighting for machine vision, camera and image sensor technology, and image processing.

A3 will hold The Vision Show again in 2023, after which the event will return to its pre-pandemic odd-year schedule. For more information about the event, visit www.visionshow.org.
