Shoei Chemical Acquires Quantum Dot Business from Nanosys

Advanced materials manufacturer Shoei Chemical Inc., together with its North American subsidiary, Shoei Electronic Materials, has completed a definitive asset purchase agreement with Nanosys to acquire substantially all the assets associated with the Nanosys quantum dot business. Per the deal, the Tokyo-based company and its Oregon-based subsidiary will acquire Nanosys’ sales and marketing teams, quantum dot R&D team, and Silicon Valley laboratories. Shoei will continue to operate the Nanosys brand, retaining its identity as a supplier of quantum dot materials.

The move comes less than one year after micro-LED-based chip-to-chip interconnects manufacturer Avicena acquired a micro-LED fabrication facility and associated engineering team from Nanosys.
