Optelecom to Supply Video Equipment for Air Traffic Control
Optelecom Inc. of Gaithersburg, Md., has received a contract from
BFi Optilas for its high-resolution video equipment. The transmitter/receiver systems will be used to upgrade air traffic control systems at airports in Malaga, Palma de Majorca and Ibiza, Spain.
Optelecom's RGB500/360 workstation extenders manage data flow, including weather maps, radar and the RGB video that enables controllers to identify aircraft and monitor their position, speed and direction. The systems feature a video bandwidth of 500 MHz and are designed to operate with the
Sony Corp. 2048-pixel x 2048-line displays used in airport control centers.
