ESI Wins Order for Laser Semiconductor Processing Systems

PORTLAND, Ore., Sept. 5 -- Electro Scientific Industries Inc. has received an order for multiple Model 9820 laser semiconductor processing systems from Samsung Electronics. The new systems are a follow-on to a previous order shipped in July to Samsung's Kiheung facility in Korea, where they will be used in the production of advanced DRAM devices.

According to ESI, the Model 9820 is a second generation 300 mm tool with the smallest laser spot size and the highest accuracy and throughput available today.
