Essent Kabelcom Picks Corning for Network Project
CORNING, NY, Sept. 7 -- Corning Incorporated and Essent Kabelcom, the second largest cable-operator in the Netherlands, said that Essent Kabelcom has selected Corning MetroCor optical fiber for its Western Europe network project.
Corning is supplying Essent Kabelcom with more than 60,000 kms of MetroCor fiber for a 510-km link between Amsterdam, Groningen, Bremen, and Hamburg. Construction of the link will begin in the third quarter 2001, and is expected to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2001. Essent Kabelcom will be the first European cable operator to deploy MetroCor fiber in Western Europe and they have selected Corning Cable Systems as the exclusive cable supplier for this project.
