Axsys Integrated Systems Ships 2,000th Microscope Autofocus System

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Sept. 14 -- Axsys Technologies, Inc.’s Integrated Systems announced it recently shipped its 2,000th LaserTrac, a tracking autofocus system for optical microscopes. Recent technology advances to the LaserTrac include an air bearing voice coil motor for high bandwidth applications and new sample and hold circuitry providing unlimited capture range.

Winner of Photonics Spectra magazine’s prestigious 1992 Photonics Circle of Excellence Award, LaserTrac AutoFocus eliminates tedious manual or video focusing where the stage must stop before the unit can focus. Instead, it continuously tracks microscope focus, even while the stage is moving. The result is highly accurate and repeatable focusing, significant reduction in operator fatigue, and increased inspection throughput by up to 300 percent over manual and video focusing.
