Williams Providing Network Capacity to Progress Telecom
TULSA, Okla., Oct. 19 -- Williams Communications has signed an agreement with Progress Telecom to provide network capacity. Under the agreement, Williams is providing Progress with broadband transport services, including OC-192 optical wave service and local distribution, to complete a fully diverse route from New York to Washington, D.C., for Progress Telecom. Wave services transport traffic between two locations and offer flexible high-bandwidth capacity without the capital cost of dark fiber.
Williams used its existing ONLINE9000 transport platform by ONI Systems Corp. for the metro portion of the Progress Telecom circuit; the Corvis CorWave family of products enable the long-haul transport.
OC-192 services were developed for Progress Telecom and will be generally available starting in 2002.
