eShade Developer inViso to Close
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 31 -- inViso, a developer of microdisplay modules and personal electronics, announced it will cease operations, citing the ecomomic slowdown and a poor fund-raising environment.
inViso has developed a digital crystal on silicon display and optical module designed for near-to-eye personal electronics applications. The SVGA resolution module was used in the company's eCase, a monocular, bring-to-the-eye PDA-like device, and its eShades, a binocular head-mounted display system.
inViso President Joy Weissbrief said the company had been close to making an acquisition deal. "The risk is in the applications for near-to-eye products," she said. "Other than camcorder viewfinders, the market for these displays has been slow to develop, and it's likely to be a couple of years before it does."
