Cisco Wins Three Optical Equipment Contracts

SAN JOSE, Calif., Nov. 1 -- Cisco Systems Inc. has signed contracts to supply routers to telecommunications companies in Canada, South Korea and Hungary for undisclosed amounts.

The company said Big Pipe Inc., a unit of Canada's Shaw Communications Inc., will use Cisco routers on its national Internet protocol network. Dacom Corp., South Korea's No. 2 fixed-line telecom company, will expand its optical network with 7000- and 12000-series routers, as well as Cisco's ONS 15454 metro optical transport platform.

Cisco will also supply optical networking equipment, including dense wavelength division multiplexing gear, to help Hungarian telecom company Matav expand its optical network.
