Hizbollah Cameras Watch Israel
Lebanon's
Daily Star reported that Hizbollah has deployed dozens of surveillance cameras along the Israeli border following the Sept. 11 attacks on the World Trade Center in New York and on the Pentagon in Washington. The cameras, similar to systems installed by Israel in May 2000 following its withdrawal from Lebanon, monitor any troop deployments and the activity of settlers from Shebaa Farms in the occupied territories in the east to Naqoura in the west.
The Hizbollah surveillance cameras include illumination systems for nighttime use and are unaffected by weather and electrical interference. Surveillance data is transmitted via wire and wireless networks, and activity is reported to branch control centers.
