ESI Wins Order from Samsung for Laser Drill
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 7 -- Electro Scientific Industries Inc. has received an order for a model 5385 CO2 laser drill from Samsung Electro-Mechanics. The order is a follow-on to systems shipped in August to Samsung's Kiheung facility in Korea, where they will be used in the production of printed circuit boards for the cell phone and IC packaging market.
ESI introduced the 5385 laser drill during Productronica 2001 in Munich. The model 5385 features a high-power CO2 laser with high-pulse repetition frequency of up to 100 kHz for improved throughput and via quality.
