Oregon Gives Qwest $60 Million Contract
PORTLAND, Ore., Nov. 28 -- Qwest Communications International Inc. has been awarded a $60 million, four-year communications-services contract with the State of Oregon. The award covers a variety of communications services -- data, video and voice -- that will be used by state, county and city governments as well as K-12 schools and state-funded universities. Qwest will be the primary data-networking provider for more than 5,000 locations around the state.
Qwest currently is executing a wide variety of communications services contracts with state and local governments as well as colleges and universities across the US. The company said it is providing a 40 Gb/s fiber optic network for the National Science Foundation Distributed Terascale Facility program.
