3D Systems, Spectra-Physics Sign Development, Supply Agreement

VALENCIA, Calif., Dec. 11 -- 3D Systems Corp. and Spectra-Physics Lasers Inc. have agreed to jointly develop and manufacture diode-pumped solid state laser systems for solid imaging applications.

The agreement provides an opportunity for significant advancements in the integration of the Spectra-Physics technology into the total imaging system utilized by 3D Systems' machines. The companies expect to accelerate the introduction of new lasers and the optimization of current products to further enhance performance.

"This agreement responds to the increasing market demand for our solid imaging systems. These systems are now expanding into rapid tooling and manufacturing applications," said Martin McGough, 3D Systems' senior vice president of development and operations. "We expect the benefit to our customers will be a highly advanced family of laser systems designed to meet customers' specific needs for ease of use. We are pleased to be working with Spectra-Physics to bring these solutions to a more demanding market."
