Agere Systems announced that
H. A. Wagner, former president and CEO of Air Products and Chemicals and a member of the Agere board of directors, will become Agere's new chairman. Wagner replaces
John Young, who will continue to serve on Agere's board. At the request of
Lucent Technologies, Agere's board has also appointed
Henry Schacht, Lucent chairman and CEO, and
Frank D'Amelio, Lucent's chief financial officer, to replace the two existing Lucent representatives
William R. Carapezzi Jr. and
Pamela O. Kimmet. Schacht, D'Amelio and Young will resign from Agere's board at the time of the company's spinoff.
. . . Implant Sciences Corp., which develops products for the radiation oncology, interventional cardiology, orthopedic and explosives detection marketplaces, announced that it is forming an Explosives Detection Systems Division to market and manufacture explosives vapor detection equipment.
Leo Krasnobaev, Ph.D., who along with his engineering staff was responsible for the development of the technology and the prototype, will head the unit. The new division will eventually be operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of Implant Sciences Corp. The company also announced it has retained
James J. Aldo as a strategic and marketing consultant in the explosives detection field.
