II-VI Subsidiary Wins Contract for IR Targeting Components
Under a multiyear contract of about $12 million,
Exotic Electro-Optics, a subsidiary of
II-VI Inc., will design, develop and produce the integrated forward-looking IR targeting system shroud and corresponding navigation turret assemblies for
Northrop Grumman Electronic Sensors and Systems.
The systems will upgrade the F-16 aircraft and will require precision optical fabrication, thin-film coatings and electro-optic assemblies. Exotic will deliver 88 sets of multipane sapphire window assemblies integrated in the shroud and will produce a similar number of turrets, or navigation pods, that incorporate a dome made of aluminum oxynitride. Optional units may be purchased after the initial production.
