Adaptive Optics Unit Gets NIF Orders from Lawrence Livermore

BLACKWOOD, N.J., Jan. 29 -- Adaptive Optics Associates Inc.'s Metrologic Instruments Inc. subsidiary has been awarded two orders from Lawrence Livermore National Labs for opto-mechanical design and production work on the National Ignition Facility (NIF) construction project. Adaptive Optics is presently working with LLNL to secure additional orders in support of NIF.

The first order is for 16 light-launcher assemblies that are integral alignment devices for setting and maintaining the position of optical components. A second order is a time-and-materials contract for the refinement of spatial filter platforms. Both items are components in the NIF laser amplification system. Delivery is expected on both orders in spring 2002.
