Williams to Supply Verizon with Long-Distance Service

TULSA, Okla., Feb. 6 -- Williams Communications Group Inc. said it has won a contract to provide long-distance transmission services to Verizon Communications.

Under the agreement, Williams' network will provide service to supplement Verizon's own network switches and cables. "In today's capital-constrained market, network outsourcing is a smart management strategy for companies seeking to gain a competitive edge by lowering costs and risks," said Williams COO Frank Semple.
