Telia Buys UK Assets of 360 Networks
LONDON, Feb. 20 -- Telia International Carrier announced it has bought the assets of 360 Networks Ltd. Telia said the purchase significantly extends its existing network in the UK and forms the basis of further expansion plans in the region.
The agreement comprises fiber and colocation sites for a 216-fiber cable west from London to Reading and Bristol, north to Birmingham and Manchester, east to Leeds, south toward Peterborough, Cambridge, and to London. The total length of fiber cables is 1,200 trunk kilometers, plus 300 kilometers of metro routes in Liverpool, Leeds, Sheffield, Leicester, Cambridge, Reading and Birmingham.
Telia said it can offer high-quality colocation at ten facilities along the network route. In addition, the dark fiber network will provide the basis for the rollout of Telia's SDH and IP network, the company said.
