China Approves Luminous Networks Metro Platform
CUPERTINO, Calif., March 8 -- China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) has certified Luminous' PacketWave access platform for metropolitan area networks. Luminous is the first company with a carrier-class optical Ethernet metro platform to receive MII approval.
Network design and deployment of Luminous' equipment in China has been achieved by Photonic Bridges, an emerging communication equipment company supplying next-generation network solution that worked with MII on the certification.
China Netcom is deploying Luminous' metro platform in nine cities, including Shanghai, Dalian, Guangzhou, Foshan, Shunde, Mianyang, Quanzhou, Shaoxing and Jiaxing, spanning five provinces. Network design, engineering and installation is performed by Photonic Bridges and has been completed in six cities, with the remaining three set for early 2002.
