Visionics Wins Army Sub-Contract for Wearable ID System

JERSEY CITY, N.J., March 11 -- Visionics Corp. has been awarded a subcontract from the MicroOptical Engineering Corp. under its contract with the US Army for work in the Digital Military Police (MP) program. The subcontract involves the use of FaceIt face recognition technology in a mobile security system.

The system employs an eyeglass-mounted wearable camera and display device designed and manufactured by The MicroOptical Engineering Corp., of Westwood, Mass. Mark Chandler of the Army's Natick Soldier Center said, "By providing a quick and accurate confirmation of an individual's status, the use of FaceIt technology on a hands-free body-worn mobile platform will greatly increase the safety and effectiveness of the Military Police. We consistently seek leading technologies and industry players to create these types of innovative systems and are pleased to be working with Visionics on this important project."
