Telia and Sonera to Merge
HELSINKI, Finland, April 1 -- The Swedish and Finnish telecommunications companies Telia and Sonera have announced plans to merge. The combination of the companies will create the leading telecommunications group in the Nordic and Baltic region, Sonera said, with combined preliminary pro-forma 2001 revenues of SEK 83 billion or EUR 9.0 billion and approximately 34,000 employees.
