Nextrom Holding and Sysmelec to Share Photonics Know-How
GALS, Switzerland, April 9 -- Sysmelec, a Swiss optoelectronics component manufacturer, and Nextrom Holding, supplier of manufacturing solutions for optical fiber and fiber optic cable, have signed an agreement to cooperate in developing new technology in photonics.
Nextrom, headquartered in Morges, Switzerland, recently launched a new business, Nextrom Photonics, to provide automated manufacturing and process solutions for optical component assembly and optical connectivity. Under the agreement, Sysmelec will transfer some of its resources to Nextrom Photonics, which will share Sysmelec's facilities in Gals.
Sysmelec will design and build, on behalf of Nextrom, equipment to develop these technologies and will continue to manufacture and market its own die and flip-chip bonding products.
The agreement will not affect Sysmelec's activities in the medical, electromechanical, watch or automotive industries.
