Donald R. VanLuvanee has retired as president and CEO of
Electro Scientific Industries Inc. David F. Bolender, chairman of the board of directors, has been named acting CEO, and
James T. Dooley was named senior vice president and acting COO. Dooley will also continue as CFO. VanLuvanee will be a consultant to the company.
. . . Yoshio Nishi, chief scientist at
Texas Instruments Inc. (TI), has accepted the directorship of the
Stanford Nanofabrication Facility and was awarded a research professorship in Stanford's Department of Electrical Engineering. His appointment is effective May 1. Nishi is senior vice president and director of silicon technology development at TI and has been a consulting professor at Stanford since 1986.
