AvroTec Inc., designer and manufacturer of cockpit displays for small general-aviation aircraft, has joined Microvision's Nomad Personal Display System reseller program.   . . .   Germany semiconductor equipment manufacturer AIXTRON said Kopin Corp., of Massachussets, is using its MOCVD technology to produce special transistors to use in modules for high-speed optical data transmission networks. Kopin received this order from the Japanese company Yokogawa Electric, which manufactures the modules. The heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) contain InGaP compound semiconductors; Yokogawa Electric's modules contain lasers and HBTs.   . . .   Boyce D. McDaniel, Cornell University physicist and the Manhattan Project scientist who gave the atomic bomb its final check before the first test at Trinity site in July 1945, died of a heart attack May 8 in Ithaca, N.Y. He was 84. With Cornell physicist Robert Walke, McDaniel invented the pair spectrometer to measure gamma-ray energies.
