FDA Approves Laser Removal of Stretch Marks, Scars, Burns

NEW YORK, May 22 -- The FDA has approved the XTRAC excimer laser manufactured by PhotoMedex for treatment of leukoderma, including stretch marks, scars, burns and other loss of skin pigmentation.

David J. Goldberg, clinical professor of dermatology and director of Laser Research in the Department of Dermatology at New York's Mount Sinai School of Medicine recently released a study on using the excimer laser for the repigmentation of aged, white, disfiguring stretch marks. "Skin laser procedures can remove everything from tattoos and birth marks to unwanted hair, age spots and wrinkles. Now stretch marks can be added to the list of treatable skin flaws," Goldberg said.
