Agere Systems, Yafo Networks to Develop Receivers
ATLANTA, June 5 -- Agere Systems and Yafo Networks have announced a partnership to jointly develop integrated adaptive receiver technology for high-speed optical transmissions. The 40 Gbit/s receivers will incorporate polarization mode dispersion compensation and other features inside a compact, integrated module. This agreement spans product definition and development of integrated receiver modules, combining Yafo's PMD compensation technology with Agere's expertise in 40 Gbit/s receiver design and other optical component technologies.
The development of adaptive receiver modules will enable systems vendors to overcome PMD, one of the most limiting optical impairments in high data-rate optical communications, the companies said. They are displaying the receiver this week at SuperComm 2002.
